West from Gairloch

This picture was from a photograph I took while on holiday in Gairloch on the west coast of Scotland in 2021. The picture has many weaknesses of course but I can recollect the feel of the air and the smell of the undergrowth as we looked out from the hillside above the Gairloch museum. It was enjoyable creating the foreground in many colours – even including the odd bit of green.

Lost in the distance is the Isle of Skye but there was a lot of low cloud – but no rain or midges so a double bonus

Afqa Lebanon

This picture was from one of our trips to Lebanon a few years back now, this cave has the springs that are the source of the River Adonis and was good to potter about in for a while – lovely and gloomy and cool after the heat and glare of the sunshine outside. Pastel on Pastelmat mostly Unison pastels I believe from a family photograph
